No Spend November: in review
If you’re new to my no spend series, be sure to check out my previous article about what a no spend month is. It explains more of what budget cuts we made as well as what a no spend month entails. We had a lot of goals for the month but I’m sure you’re wondering, in review…
How did November go?
We actually did pretty well, I would say! It didn’t really feel like that big of a challenge, it was more of being mindful with spending. We previously lowered our budget by quite a bit (see previous post) and tried hard to stay within the categories. We definitely did for some, but others went over.
Here’s how we did with our categories:
Groceries: budgeted $175, spent $225
Consumables: budgeted $30, spent $3.32!
Health: budgeted $200, spent $290
Aria’s Allowance: stayed within budget
Jane: budgeted $50, spent $37.07
Gifts: budgeted $40, spent $0!
Date night: budgeted $20, spent $15.56
Clothing: budgeted $10, spent $0
Of course, there are other accounts I’m not going to mention today for the sake of brevity, but this is the majority of our spending, besides bills and gas.
I am very proud of us for not spending anything over Black Friday except for new pacifiers for Jane. YAY!
Also, we had a road trip and we only ate out once, on the way back. On the way there we packed a lunch! On the way back we stopped at Panda Express and got a large plate for $15ish.
And that is basically it for November - pretty boring because we didn’t spend much! But I am proud of how we did, and hopefully December will be about the same!
