Beef Pinwheels
This recipe makes about 12-14 pinwheels. I doubled the recipe and put half in the freezer.
Ingredients:
For the filling:
½ onion, minced
1lb ground beef
1tsp salt
3tbsp Worchestershire sauce
1tbsp dried parsley
3tbsp flour
1 cup milk
For the biscuit dough:
3 cups flour
2tbsp baking powder
1 ½ tsp salt
3 tbsp butter
1 cup milk
Directions:
Preheat oven to 400°F. Brown meat and onion together. Add seasonings and flour, then add milk. Cook, simmering until thickened, then remove from heat.
Mix together biscuit dough. Pulse in a food processor or cut the butter into it with a pastry cutter, either works! Roll out on floured surface to 1/4 inch thick.
Spread meat and sauce on biscuit dough and roll in a jellyroll fashion. Cut into 1-inch slides, place cute side down on a baking sheet. Put in the freeze to flash freeze, or the oven! Bake 20-25 minutes until biscuit is lightly browned and center is cooked. Serve with cheese sauce.
Once the pinwheels are completely frozen, put into a freezer bag or vacuum seal! They will last longer when vacuum sealed, otherwise they do tend to get freezer burnt after a couple months.
The cheese sauce is just a white sauce with cheese added. I eyeball proportions but maybe 4tbsp flour, a cup or 2 of milk and a cup of cheese.
